Nikol Aghababyan
A rich optimism and a deep love for all the variety of nature
Nikol Aghababyan’s sun-dappled nature scenes are alive with color. The warm-hearted style, bold brush strokes and play of light are reminiscent of the French impressionists, but the scenes uniquely recall the Armenian village of Koghb, the artist’s birthplace. Aghababian’s paintings, each one representing a different element of nature, are suffused with deep love and a rich optimism. The viewer leaves them feeling the world—at least in this village—is a happier place.
Aghababyan, born in 1964 in the Tavoush region of Armenia, graduated from Yerevan State Pedagogical Institute, Department of Painting, in 1986. He has held numerous personal exhibitions in Armenia, the Middle East, Europe and the USA. His works are part of the art collections of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church in the U.S., cultural centres in Armenia, and private collections worldwide. His paintings have been shown in exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Nice, Lyons, Cannes, Milan, Berlin, Rome, Venice and St. Petersburg.
There is enormous strength in Nikol Aghababyan’s art.
