Harout Harutiunyan
Fairy tale scenes, ethnic traditions and childhood memories come together in tuneful lyricism
In gentle, multicolored pastels, Harout Harutiunyan creates charming fairy tale scenes. They emerge as childhood memories and visions of ethnic traditions, with insights drawing on the millennia-old living breath of the earth. The artist’s inner vision determines the mystic atmosphere of his images.
And then there are his landscapes, still life paintings (especially floral studies), and religious themes. Harutiunyan’s profound impressions, from the fruitful gardens and vivid flowers of the Ararat Valley to the spiritual chants under the arches of Etchmiadzin Cathedral, left an indelible imprint on his soul and determined the defining quality of his art: a fine, noble, tuneful lyricism. The collector who comes upon Harutiunyian now encounters him at the most prolific period of his creative life.
